Ghyll Scrambling

Ghyll scrambling is ascending or descending a mountain stream, tackling obstacles along the way using a variety of skills, Jumping, sliding and climbing. Ghyll scrambling is one of the most popular outdoor activities in the lake district. Ghyll scrambling suits a wide variety of groups from families, youth and military groups to stag and hen parties.

We provide for Ghyll Scrambling:

  • Helmet
  • Seland 2 piece wetsuit
  • 3mm heat vest in the winter
  • Palm PFD (Personal Flotation Device)
  • Wetsuit socks

You need to provide:

  • A pair of closed toe shoes, you don’t mind getting wet. Old trainers are ideal.
  • A towel, you will need to get dry after this activity
  • Swimming costume for under your wetsuit


  • Thrills and spills in StoneyCroft ghyll or Church beck. Our most popular activity for a variety of groups.
  • We will kit you out in the very best kit, specially designed for the activity. You will receive a helmet and a 5mm two piece wetsuit with a hood to keep you warm. We also provide you with 5mm wetsuit socks to keep your feet toasty as they are constantly in the water. The kit we offer is a cut above the rest and will ensure you thoroughly enjoy your activity at no extra cost.
  • We will deliver a short safety brief before the activity, then its straight out to the ghyll to enjoy this high impact activity. This activity is a 3 hour trip.
